These aliases exist for exactly the reason you encountered: sometimes
the function keys don't work in a given terminal, but the number keys
always work.
How do you do to type the numbers 1,2... when you want number instead of
function keys ???
That scenario is impossible.
Slider doesn't take input other than what's shown on the menu, which are
function keys, and arrow keys to move the selector around.
In other words, you never "want numbers".
