What happens if you press ^T (ctrl+t) where it hangs? What does it print?

It does tell the load average:
load, 0.45  cmd: ps 40 [running] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 1312k
...
<and after a while>
...
load, 0.99  cmd: ps 40 [running] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 1312k

Ctrl+Alt+Del does reboot it.

I guess I need to learn how to debug the kernel. I just hoped it's something trivial.
