ewwww, google groups...

It's not google groups, it's just a mail list.
You send an email to the list. I don't think there's any registration or moderation period anything like that.

Also, installed ravenports can run alongside dports without conflict.
Building is also not an issue; they are completely isolated.

what about GNU/Linux?

GNU/Linux has a repository now. It's supported already.
The only requirement is that the target distro it's glibc-based (as most distros are)

how does it mesh with say rpm packages in Fedora?

It's the same case as ports. You can use existing installed packages on Fedora and ravenports at the same time. They don't "mesh". They just co-exist (other than say running desktop from RPM packages but using ravenports software on that desktop)

btw, i see no mention of RPM under "Multiple package formats possible",
what is your plan regarding this format?

No real plans. If somebody enticed me to support it (e.g. a contract) then I would. If somebody wants to donate support then I would facilitate that contribution. In other words, "patches welcome" from competent and serious contributors, but that's true for all aspects of Ravenports. Or if overwhelming number of requests appeared for something, I'd bump the priority on support, etc, etc, etc.
