Sorry, some additional info and questions:
Box is a Dell Poweredge T30 with 2x1T drives (for now)
Should I pick HAMMER or HAMMER2 (installer seems to suggest HAMMER)
and
should I use Dell's onboard RAID 0 or AHCI?
I'm doing a trial install now with HAMMER2, AHCI... I used NetBSD
(and
Free and still running OpenBSD on various boxes) for a while years
ago
so the basics are somewhat familiar. I'm sure HAMMER/2 is totally
new
and great :)
HAMMER2 is rock solid IMHO. Unless you want streaming backups, go for
HAMMER2.
Thanks, ok I got lucky on that choice against the best advice of the
installer...
I want mirroring, not backups. I'm much more worried about losing a
drive than I am about somebody rm -rf / on one of my boxes ;)
I'm quite sure that hammer1/2 doesn't support mirror/raidN/stipes the
way zfs does.
Hammer uses a master/slave concept.
I'm currently not using dfly so I can't give you any details, but I run
freenas on my servers at home because zfs.
