* at the workshop TeamSpeak was mentioned since it is used by LIGO and can handle large numbers of participants with little effort (hundred and up to 1000 were used by LIGO) * an open-source alternative using similar technology (same codec) is mumble * both offer a free-as-in-beer server as long as the number of participants is mall (<32 for teamspeak) * both (should) offer public calls and offer clients for all major OS * Frank looked into them a bit and will try and see what would be involved in hosting a server (at LSU) or also to pay for commercial hosting Report on ET workshop: * 30 students from around the world * mostly successful, however still points that need improvement * Matt request to announce the streaming earlier and to take time zone differences into account. Currently it was 7:00am ET.
