Thanks, works like a charm!
Beginner's error here :) - for some reason I was thinking some naming 
translation is going on in the background since the webadmin boot setting did 
work for karaf 1.0.0...

What if you try with webconsole instead of webadmin as indicated in
the features list you pasted ?
