I'm actually a couple of years older than you and every app I've worked on has eventually become obsolete. Flex/HTML/JavaScript/Browsers probably will too someday. There are points in time where demand on some new technology outstrips the number of available workers. I don't know if we are in one of those times, but those are the best times to switch to a new technology. Look into Mobile, IOT, big data. I haven't worked with TekSystems, but if I registered with them or any placement firm and wasn't getting interviews, I would contact them and try to find out why and ask for their expert advice on how you could change that situation.
