Hi Chris, Wow! :) Thank you for interesting in that. Some time ago Carlos [1] started initial work on that creating separate branch in FlexJS framework repository [2]. I encourage you to ask any technical things where to start in that thread. [1].
In general you will have to work in framework code itself, so I would be happy to help you setup environment for that purpose if you needed.
