I don't really see what you are doing. But anyway: have you tried Gist to
see what search does?

Hej!

I have a custom variable implementation where I am printing the value
selections to the terminal as they happen. I can see that a number of values
are being chosen, but when I print the statistics for the DFS search engine
it always returns stat.node as 0.

Is there something I'm missing here? I would have expected each value choice
to increment the node count.

My models directly extend Gecode::Space if that makes any difference.
