Hi :) On the left hand side of Synaptic is a panel that allows you to restrict the list of packages to specific categories. By default it is set on "All" but then gives options such as "Amateur Radio", "Base", "Communications", scroll down the long list to see a few categories for "Word Processor".
Antiword looked interesting but i couldn't find anything like "mythes*" even in the "All" category. I was wondering if it's because i installed LO through the ppa or perhaps because i haven't installed any extra language packs on this machine. I might try on a different machines tomorrow (maybe) Anyway the important thing is that the problem was fixed.
