New question. When I selected the "quoted field as text" box in the
import prompt, I never had to do this again. The setting was changed for

always unchecked. Is there anyway way I could make this the default
setting?

Quoted text is the default setting when exporting to text.
Your last settings should be the default importing settings too, for the current session at least. Insert>SheetFromFile... with "Link" options saves import settings for a sheet within a spreadsheet document. You can save the import settings for a certain type of text files in a so called "Base document" and pull the data through the database component. Loading, editing and saving database exchange formats in spreadhsheets is extremely common but inappropriate since a spreadsheet is neither a database nor text editor. I use to recomment a dedicated text editor for this (and for Windows): http://csved.sjfrancke.nl/ Using some SQL database engine and Base, you can click together your own csv editor for your individual flavour of text tables.
