Personally I am fine with the default font provided by my distribution (Ubuntu). I think the first preference is to use a font that is hinted for the scripts I use (English, Greek), thus good for viewing in LibreOffice. For printing, as long as the printer is 300dpi or more, any font will print well. If I want to write text in some other language, for example in a special script, I would create a new paragraph style such as 'Hindi' and select the appropriate font for this script. My preference would be to avoid using a pan-Unicode font, as it may not be hinted. (if you computer screen has low detail, that is, low number of dots per inch, then individual characters may not show well. In low detail screens, you get the best visual image if the font designer adds special instructions (hints) that helps the computer to show the letters.)
