I have a macro that converts QIF files to a spreadsheet. I have a few things left to do and one of these is that the column for dates are currently in text format: "dd.mm.yyyy". I want to convert this to a date format through a macro.

Note that you may not need a macro at all: you could create an additional column with a formula to evaluate a genuine date value from the data in your text column. You could even hide the column of original text values if you preferred.

One formula that might work is
 =DATEVALUE(Xn)
but whether this will handle your DD.MM.YYYY may depend on your locale setting. Otherwise, something such as
 =DATE(RIGHT(Xn;4);MID(Xn;4;2);LEFT(Xn;2))
ought to work.

Alternatively, does this point you in the right direction to create a macro?

I trust this helps.
