Hi :) In the future it might be best to just keep the installer files somewhere locally. That way you can easily uninstall and then reinstall later. I tend to keep the old installers accident anyway but by the time i might want to reinstall it's easier for me to just download the next newer version. I try to delete some of the versions so that i only have 1 or 2 at a time.
As for why Vista keeps hanging. Does it happen with other programs or is it just MS Office and LibreOffice so far? Have you done a defrag and run "disk cleanup" fairly recently? It's a good idea to do routine maintenance like that about 1/month. Also do you know how much free-space you have on your hard-drive? Windows tends to need over 20% free otherwise it suffers from more slow-downs. I often find people simply haven't emptied their recycle bin or haven't emptied the wastebin in their email program.
