Jim, I am not an Xubuntu user, but I am using the vanilla LO 5.1.0.3RC3 x64 on PCLinux and Windows 7 with the AltSearch extension version 1.4.1 which is working perfectly for me. I did experience a problem with macro errors (no crashes) in a previous LO version (4.?), but this was resolved by removing and reinstalling the extension. Where did you hear that the extension was incompatible with the 5.x versions of LO?
