Thanks, Rémy. Yes, that is exactly what happened. It was deleted with a change in the text and I finally discovered in a later example that accepting the change gets rid of the comment -- but you have to reach the very end of the area marked for comment. In this case I had accepted the change, but apparently not reached the end of the marked area to "capture" the comment. Going back I was able to do so and accept the deletion with the left click popup menu.
