I'm not sure about columns, but the newest version is supposed to support more columns than previous versions. Seems like the last column is AMJ. I have a spreadsheet open right now in LibreOffice Calc that is 5064 rows right now (adding one row each day) and I have no problems with it. I'd guess some cell is corrupt or something is wrong with one of your formulas, but since I don't have a clue what your formulas look like I can't say anything more than that.
