I agree PDF is a final output, but disagree that 'the whole point of PDF' is to make it hard for other people to edit. Its primary point is to create an output which looks the same across OSes and various configurations of computer (e.g. fonts). It is loved by graphic artists for that reason: everyone will see the page exactly as intended by the artist. -- T. R.
