Thank you Eric. I have a number of templates. For example, templates for different types of reports, memoranda, letters etc.
I did create a default template initially. I thought it would be something like the "normal" in MS Word. It contained all the styles. Then I created one a template for a report based on the default. Unfortunately neither the default or the report template kept the list styles or paragraph styles created in either. The only thing that stuck was the fonts but those are set as default in the User Preferences and not in the template. I'm not sure how making one of these templates the default will fix the missing styles within each of the templates as it hasn't worked so far. B.
