These are two things:
a) the value of ${NHOSTS} is only known at runtime defined by SGE as
environment variable, not at submission time. But nevertheless
b) the ${NHOSTS} should be evaluated to an empty string, which might be a
problem of the GUI that it's forwarding the plain text without shell evalution.

No, the "-b y" option only says that "/opt/comsol/43a/bin/comsol" is a binary
and not a script.
