Hi, better controlling and fencing in applications has been a requirement brought forward to us by many users, especially in light of the modern multi-core servers which are often capable of running many, potentially conflicting applications. Recent Linux kernel versions provide a novel means to do just that via CGROUPS and we have been working to provide fully embedded support for it in Univa Grid Engine. The recently release Univa Grid Engine 8.1.7 delivers that integration and I can imagine it be an interesting functionality to some of you. Daniel, who has been developing the feature, provides some more detail in his blog at http://www.gridengine.eu/index.php/grid-engine-specific-news/188-univa-grid-engine-817-released-2014-01-15 plus he touches some of the other 8.1.7 enhancements. A full list of enhancements is available as usual at http://www.univa.com/resources/releases.php. Our free trial version should soon be updated to 8.1.7 in case you want to test drive CGROUPS support or some of the other features. Cheers, Fritz --
