Hello Grid Engine Users! I'd like to begin by saying "Thank You!". The information which can be gleaned from the list and applied is outstanding.
Anyways, to the point. Looking over the currently available documentation, man pages, and the list archive (http://gridengine.markmail.org), I didn't or wasn't successful in finding any real way to decide how many functional tickets should be assigned (weight_tickets_functional) for a purely functional based policy with many users and several departments. I've referred to the URL http://bioteam.net/dag/sge6-funct-share-dept.html which is pretty straight-forward, and which we'll be implementing. My question is then: is there an algorithm which current grid administrators are using to decide how many tickets should be in the functional ticket pool? I've seen figures ranging from 100 to 1,000,000. Any advice and/or replies would be appreciated.
