I'm not sure if I'm permitted to ask questions about the functionality (or, in this case, non-functionality) of Son-of-Gridengine here. If so I apologize.
I've been doing some job status email testing using qsub on a Son-of-Gridengine cluster running on CentOS 6.2. Our cluster has two head nodes, and three submit nodes, along w/some 50 compute nodes. I'm submitting my jobs from a submit node using the following syntax qsub -V -m aebs -M [email protected] -b yes -pe make 2 mpirun -np 2 <a bunch of openMPI specific switches> Whether the job goes to completion or fails I never receive any email. I've checked the compute node on which the job runs as well as the submit node and the /var/log/maillog file remains empty. So it looks to me like SOGE isn't even attempting to send the email. I understand the email is sent from the exechost, but I'm not sure which host this refers to as I only know of three types of nodes (compute, submit and head). Are there any necessary configuration options that have to be set in SOGE (Son-of-Gridengine) in order for job email functionality to be enabled? Thanks in advance. I'm certain I'll have more questions very soon. -Bill L.
