Hi Hans,
I tried to configure the generic connector for Access, but I wasn't able
to figure it out.
Here's what worked:
- I can connect via command line, using the console.bat script.
- I can connect via DBeaver (which uses the same UCanAccess driver)
Here's where I'm at:
- I set the environment variable HOP_SHARED_JDBC_FOLDER, pointing it to
a local folder C:\.....\jdbc
- I set the "Driver class" to net.ucanaccess.jdbc.UcanaccessDriver
- I tried various combinations of "throwing in" the numerous jar drivers
(all in the same folder, or following the same folder structure as the
zip file etc.), but to no avail. I closed Hop and reopened it after
every change, but no success.
Also, I don't even know where to put the database name. My hunch is that
it needs to go into the "Manual connection URL", and it likely looks
something like this: jdbc:ucanaccess://{file} (I found this in DBeaver).
But at this point, it's just too much guesswork.
Would you be able to put me on the right track how to proceed? In
return, I could gladly write up some documentation (in English, German,
even Spanish).
Thanks a bunch,
Gert

Hi Hans,
Thank you very much for your quick reply, this looks very promising.
I'm (very) new to Hop, and I need to do some more homework first
figuring out how to add the plugin (the instructions
<https://hop.apache.org/manual/latest/database/databases.html> look
straight forward though :) )
But yes, I think it would be great if if we (well, you ;) ) could add
an MS Access transform by default.
Hong-Yee, will you open a JIRA ticket? (Here's the link.
Thanks again,
Gert

Hi,
Thank you for reaching out, we can take a look at adding a transform
to read data from access so feel free to create a jira ticket.
In the meantime there is another solution, there is a JDBC driver
available to read data from access files you can find it here [1].
You can use a generic connection and the instructions from the
website and you should be able to read and even write to Access
database files.

Hans

I would like to second Hong-Yee's request.
In my work environment, there are (unfortunately still) many
Access databases in use, and I need to pull data frequently (on a
schedule).
I found the Excel connector, but Access doesn't seem to be available.
Much appreciated,
Gert
