This is more of a limitation in what BigQuery can (and intends) to do, so updating the driver probably won't fix this. We could consider writing BigQuery transforms for the native Hop engine at some point, but exporting your data to a file and importing that trough the CLI or similar, or the Beam + GCP Dataflow are your options at this time.
