error " No fields in row, can't insert!" can be triggered by some missing transform configuration. Check if you filled all the parameters required in the transform sections.

Hi Michele, I'm using version 21.0.2
The Merge Join step looks fine and when I "Preview Output" it I get a list of rows as expected.
The "Insert/Update" step however fails with the "No fields" error.

Which Java version do you use?
I had an issue with Merge Join and Java 21.
After I configured Merge Join, when I reopened it, the 2 drop down entries were blank.
