I remember seeing a similiar thread somewhere and I
seem to recall it had to do with openssl 0.9.8b.

Is openssl 0.9.8b a bugfix release over 0.9.8a, or a
security fix? If 0.9.8b is only a bug fix, you could
try it with 0.9.8a?
