Hi, if you need just a simple load balancing you can use something like
this:

/etc/apache2/lb_map:
 pool    www1|www2|www3|www4

And in a .htaccess file:

 RewriteEngine On
 RewriteMap servers rnd:/etc/apache2/lb_map
 RewriteRule ^(/blog.*)$ http://${servers:pool}.domain.com$1 [R,L]
