The location walk will be processed (again) after the directory and file walk. But mod_dir checks, if it is a regular file. What about creating the file as a dummy? Anyway, I would probably end up using something like RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/eumel/$ /eumel/linch [PT] Alias /eumel /home/milu/www/eumel/www <Directory ...... The PT flag changes r->uri to /eumel/linch so that your location section should match.
