There are numerous guides to configuring apache2 with ssl. I would
imagine it's largely the same on Gentoo as other Unix variants; the
location of configuration files is about the only thing I can think of
that might change.

For a very quick search, I found this:
http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2008/03/04/step-by-step-configuring-ssl-under-apache.html
which looks to be a pretty decent guide. I would recommend starting
there and if you have specific issues, this is a good list to ask
questions of.

Just a quick caveat: if you require SSL because you're trying to set
up an e-commerce site or some other site that handles other people's
information, then you really need to make absolutely certain you know
exactly what you're doing, and that involves a lot more than just
reading some guides on the web. If you're just doing it for your own
personal uses or for just a little bit of privacy for your visitors,
then it's not so critical and a guide like the one above should be
pretty sufficient.

Good luck,
-Brian
