Milan, I can't say for certain, but I wonder if Microsoft moved to
disable insecure renegotiation as part of IE9. There was a big ruckus
when a flaw in SSL was discovered allowing an intermediate party to
trigger a renegotiation and potentially select an insecure or null cipher.

This was fixed in 2.2.15, actually, but only if compiled with openssl
0.9.8m or later. What is the output of:
openssl version

Another note worth mentioning is that there is no such thing as HTTP 443
error code. Perhaps I read your email wrong, but httpd should never
return that status code.
