That is correct and I would myself prefer dir named without spaces. But this is a requirement which I need to fulfill. So I do not have a way out. If there is any tried solution or suggestion, please let me know!

Everytime you need to hand it over you have to worry how many escapes (\) you have to do so that it arrives correctly at the end of the information chain. It is MUCH less hassle to simply use underlines. Therefore it is my advice to repair the "broken" directory name to my_dir and live happily ever after.
