Have you enabled ssl and rewrite modules? I would verify also that there is no
firewall blocking 443.
It seems that everything is fine

Unfortunately, the log files show nothing since the request never reaches the
server.
Any idea?

Now when I enter https://w.x.y.z/shob in the browser, the request times out.
What is missing here? Any idea?
