container.flush() did the trick in this case. I have some other cases with almost the same problem. It's not always clear how these transactions act in tests but I managed to run all my tests.
Also had a case where it didn't work to persist some data in the setup-method but it worked when I did exactly the same thing at the start of my test-method. :-/ It even looks like it works in a random way: sometimes an error, sometimes everything ok.
