Is there any way to provide a implementation of how to change the versioning of the nodes

I require that the version No should change from 1.3 to 2.0 directly or 
after 1.9 it should goto 1.10 
In the current node structure it is required i just use the method 
checkin() and it creates a new verion which increments the version no to 
+0.1
