help!!! jcr:uuid not found!

hi
i create a node referenceable but strangely
the uuid property is not created!
when i try to get 
node.getProperty(JcrConstants.JCR_UUID).getString()
it throws a PathNotFoundException.
i know that it's an autocreated property so
where would be the problem?
