What version of ARQ are you using? Trying your query on the ARQ 2.9.0 powered query validator at http://sparql.org/query-validator.html shows that it parses fine so I assume you are using an older version than ARQ or are trying to build a query programmatically in which case you should see Damian's reply to your question
