Glad to see you've got it fixed.

Looks like you were using the deprecated constant XMLLiteralType.theXMLLiteralType

Jena6 has been an opportunity to prune deprecations. There were a lot, some going back a long time.

Yes.

Is is some aspect of XMLLiteralType?

Our object-graph mapper has special handling of XML literals, we only need 
RDF.dtXMLLiteral to obtain its URI.

Are you repackaging Jena in some way?

Not at all.
