Hi Gautham,

"The last 3 releases are covered and one can upgrade to the latest version
from the last previous 3" means that you should be able to do a rolling
upgrade from 3.1.x to 3.4.x.
Starting from 2.8.x one should be able to do a rolling upgrade up to 3.2.x.
It might work for newer versions but it's not guaranteed.

Version 2.8 received a security update back in September 2022 because of
CVE-2022-34917. But no further bug fixes after that. Chances are low that
2.8.x will receive further security fixes in the future.

Hope this helps. Best!
