Very weird. try this : don't define a speed setting in the smsc group, and do define a my-number and smsc-id entry. now try it and send the logs over, k ?

So as to give you guys alittle bit more background, my Kannel 1.1.6 is loaded on a fresh onstallation of redhat 7.2, so there isn't anything else on the box.

It looks like the module quit while trying to access the modem, for no apparent reason. also your log file looks corrupted :
2002-05-12 16:53:08 [5] DEBUG: AT2[/dev/tty! S0! ]: --> AT&F^M
It the name of the device shouldn't have exlamation marks in it.
another thing I noticed about your log is that bearerbox attempts autodetect instead of using the nokiaphone entry. this could be cause by a wrong configuration. please put an empty line between your smsc group settings and the modems include directive, and also check your modemsbing.conf to make sure that it contains the nokiaphone entry.
>This was one thing i was quite confused. I dont know why it goes to autodetect but I am thinking even if it goes to autodetect, it does eventually find something to connect to through the modemsbing.conf( which by the way is at the bottom of this email) I tried separating the include line as you suggested but no cigar. If ever, i also do hae a nokia 7110 which i tried but still the same...no luck.
if none of this helps, please upgrade to the latest CVS, try again and send us the los one more time.
