global sender alphanumeric

hi,

i'am a newbie here also in using kannel
how can i set my kannel configuration
so i can use a global sender alphanumeric instead of numeric/shortnumber

i'm using kannel 1.2.1 with SMPP type of SMSC
i set TON = 5 (ALPHANUMERIC) and NPI = 0 (UNKNOWN) for the dest-addr-ton
and dest-addr-npi .. but i doesnt work
it will return SMSC returned error code 0x00000048 in response to
submit_sm. :~(
it doesnt work also with TON=5 and NPI=1

i've read somewhere in the mailing list archieve that someone should do
some changes
in gw/smsc/smsc_smpp.* to make it work ... which part should i change
for it ?
