Hi Always cc the userlist this way you can have more help.
set log level to debug (0) to get more detailed info. error says can't open logfile not the modem. Check that logfile path exist and have write access to kannel user. check init string of your modem. Seems there is a command not recognised. Debugin info should give you more detail on which command failed. Note that some nokia phones does not support CNMI command; thus you will not be able to receive sms with it but only send.
