Dear KIE Community,

Although I’ve already shared these thoughts on Zulip, I simply can’t
contain my excitement and passion once again.
It is Drools research and exploration that have shaped who I am today, and
that’s why I feel compelled to express—once more—how thrilled I am about
KIE joining the Apache Software Foundation.

I am truly excited to see that the KIE project has officially joined the
Apache Software Foundation (ASF).
This is a major milestone that marks a new chapter for the KIE and Drools
ecosystem — one that embraces open governance, community-driven innovation,
and long-term growth.

As a Drools enthusiast and researcher, I have been studying Drools since
2016.
In 2019, I published “《Drools规则引擎技术指南》”, the first Chinese-language book
dedicated to the Drools rule engine.
In 2024, it was listed on the official Drools website as a recommended
learning resource — something that means a great deal to me as part of this
community.

Seeing KIE now under the Apache umbrella is both inspiring and encouraging.
It reflects the project’s maturity and the tireless effort of the KIE team
to keep improving and opening the platform to a wider audience.
This move will surely strengthen the foundation for future innovation and
collaboration across the global open-source community.

Congratulations again to the KIE developers and contributors for this
incredible achievement.
I look forward to continuing to explore and share insights about Drools and
KIE in this exciting new era under the Apache Software Foundation.

Warm regards,
*zhihui Lai*
