Any update on openSAF1.0-4 Release, which is supposed to have HPI-B
support?

Thanks

Regards,

Hi Vijay,

By default HISv service is not going to be spawned by OpenSAF. To bring
up HISv you need to uncomment HISv portion in NCSSystem.xml file.
We are planning to provide HPI-B support in opensaf1.0-4 release,
planned for october end.

------------------------------
By any chance, HISV startup part is commented/removed in opensaf1.0-2
release?

Murthy

        Hi Gus,

        Thanks for the reply.

yes. we are using HPI-B plugin.

But, however it is, SCAP service should attempt to start HISV
service as part of openSAF startup and then it should fail, if the
plugin-compatibility is not there. Isnt it?

In our case, we don't see any logs related to HISV and none of
the logs contain information about "HISV" "HCD" "HPL" or "HPI"

ie, HISV is not running, when openSAF is started.

By any chance, HISV startup part is commented/removed in
opensaf1.0-2 release?

        Appreciate your valuable inputs.

        Regards,
        Vijay

        Thanks Gustavo,
We are using HPI-B version. So it will not work.

Any idea when this HPI-B will be Supported by OpenSAF?

        Bhaskar,
Which version of HPI did you use to compile and what version of
HPI do you have on your system?

openSAF currently only supports HPI-A and there are enough
differences between HPI-A and HPI-B that it will not work with HPI-B
daemon and libraries.

Also, hisv service should not be started manually, it should be
started by SACP when openSAF starts.

        Regards,
        Gus Leal-Isla

        Hi Gustavo,

Thanks for the pointers. Now i have ncs_hisv services being
packaged are part of rpm and installed.

        However,
        nis_scxb start

        does not start hisv automatically.

i had to start using ncs_hisv_start.sh after starting SC usin
nis_scxb.

        Is this is expected procedure?

        Regards,
        Vijay

When you install the opensaf rpm on your target, do you see a
"ncs_hisv"
        executable under /opt/opensaf/controller/bin ?

The HISV service is started by SCAP so you won't see a line in
nodeinit.conf for it.

The Makefile at the top of the opensaf source tree needs to be
updated to include the ncs_hisv executable in the rpm. Edit the
Makefile, look for the "rpm" target, and add the "hw_mgmt" flag at the
end of the create_opensaf_rpm.sh line:

        rpm:
                ./rpms/create_opensaf_rpm.sh $(TARG_ARCH) $(BUILD_TYPE)
hw_mgmt

        Regards,

        Importance: High

        Hi All,

I have integrated openHPI(for our platform) with openSAF by
building openSAF with hw_mgmt=1 flag.

        * Modified NCSSystemBOM.xml and uncommented hw_mgmt section
where HISV service components are described.
        * Modified pssv_spcn_list to have "XML" string to force openSAF
to reread from XML when it starts up.

However, i do not see hisv_services are started as part of the
openSAF.

I suspect, As there is no entries in
/etc/opt/opensaf/nodeinit.conf specific to hisv, the services are not
starting?.

Please let us know, if i am missing anything?.

        Regards,
        Vijay
