What I had to do.... I had to hard switch away from using mirrorlist to using the explicit vault.centos.org/8.5.2111 <http://vault.centos.org/8.5.2111>. Then I was able to update to 8.5 and use almalinux-deploy.sh. Glad you found a solution. As far as I know they're supposed to stay online through Jan 31 but some mirror owners have probably started shutting theirs down. I haven't thought too much about dead repos impacting upgrades to Alma but Andrew (added to this chain) probably has. Regardless we need to make sure we have a solution to continue allowing at least 8.4 and 8.5 upgrades to continue working, and probably 8.3 too.
