Hi Alessandro,
AlmaLinux strives to be a binary-compatible fork of RHEL, typically
including all packages found in RHEL. With recent changes, transitioning
from a strict bug-to-bug (1:1) to a more flexible approach in binary
compatibility, we now have the flexibility to include more packages than
RHEL, while still maintaining compatibility. However, this is not the
reason why you see fewer packages in RHEL’s Application Streams.
Our AppStream repository contains packages for each release, contained
in a minor version dedicated directory, like our latest, 9.3, here:
https://repo.almalinux.org/vault/9.3/AppStream/Source/Packages/
<https://repo.almalinux.org/vault/9.3/AppStream/Source/Packages/>.
We don’t have a separate rolling AppStream per se; it’s integrated
within our standard AppStream, but we ensure to include all updates that
RHEL provides as well.
Are there any specific packages you’ve found missing in AlmaLinux? I’d
be interested to know and help get them built!
Actually I'm not searching other packages but I'm interested in firefox
102 and thunderbird shipped in the rolling stream. Would be great see
them on Synergy or in appstream.
Best regards,
Alessandro.
