Hi list,
I would install ZFS on my backup server. It runs Almalinux 9.3 and
actually it saves data on RAID1 MDADM.
From what I read I can install ZFS from OpenZFS repositories for EL and
choose between kABI tracking or DKMS.
I read that using kABI module I will have problem when a new minor
release will be released because I must wait that the kABI module from
OpenZFS repo team should be built to support the new kernel. Have
someone used the kABI module? How many time you need to wait the new
module? Are they quick releasing it?
The other method is using DKMS, so at every kernel update I need a DKMS
recompilation with a possible problem during recompilation. Ok I will
have the old module with the previous kernel that will work. How much
DKMS recompilation problem occours?
What is the best method in your experience?
Thank you in advance.
Alessandro.
