That's a very good reason but keep in mind the NWS never stops
transmitting.
(1) If the WX channels are set to scan, every time the radio gets to that
memory slot it's going to stop scanning.
(2) If your scan resume is set to CO (Carrier Operated) or SE (Seek)
the radio will never resume scanning without your manual intervention every
few seconds.
(3) If the resume is set to TO (Time Out), it will stay on that memory slot
for about five seconds before resuming the scan. It will do that every time
the scan comes to that channel unless you manually intervene by pressing
the scan button.

There is a solution to get the results you're wanting but I'm not up to
typing an essay to explain it. I'll be happy to walk you through it by
