Ditto. Baofeng radios are flashed once and done. That’s how they are built. That’s why different versions of the same model of HT have widely different capabilities. The key to success and happiness with Baofengs is to figure out the firmware version that is working best. Such as the 1.03 on the UV-18 Pro Max. Then buy a radio that is flashed with that version of firmware. One of the issues with that model is getting the 220 mode to work. With that version of firmware, it does. When you buy a Baofeng it is imperative that you get the right firmware on the radio when you buy it. It can’t be reflashed by anyone. Maybe the factory can. So the morals of the story are two. First know and specify the firmware version when you buy the radio. Second, if it’s the wrong one return it under the warranty period immediately. For example I am getting into the 220 band. Some versions of the firmware, it just doesn’t work on. With firmware version 1.03 it works. That is a simple fact. So I made sure that I bought the right radio with the right firmware on it.
