I'm trying out a few AR-5RM, intending to replace our fleet of aging UV-5R/GT-3TP rigs on the ranch. I like what I see so far in the AR-5RM. I downloaded from the HT using model UV-17Pro, loaded my freqs, then uploaded using model 5RM. For the DL, Grok advised me to use model UV-17Pro.
But I see that the UV-5R has much more tuneability in CHIRP, while the 5RM has far fewer settings to mod. I wonder if that's just due to the 5RM being more recent by far than the UV. Or is simply that the 5RM has less settings itself. But then, CHIRP added settings such as Squelch level support to the UV, only available thru CHIRP.
